Hauling Away Hillside Debris After Winter Storms
The Challenge
After the 2007 winter storms pounded Redwood City, Eagle Hill’s steep slopes funneled mud and fallen branches into backyards and drainage paths. One homeowner described the smell of wet eucalyptus bark mixing with soggy drywall from a collapsed garden shed. With narrow access roads and unstable ground, standard roll-offs couldn’t reach the site. The debris threatened to clog storm drains ahead of the next rain system.
The Result
We brought in our 12-yard compact dumpster—narrow enough for the hillside driveway—and our crew hand-loaded material from the steepest sections. We sorted green waste from construction debris on-site to meet EPA diversion rules. Within two days, the yard was clear, drainage restored, and the homeowner avoided potential flooding during the next downpour.
They got the mess gone fast without tearing up my driveway—exactly what I needed after that brutal winter.
